My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism.
James 2:1
God is impartial. He does not show favoritism and that is the filter we must read the Bible with. Some would imply that God showed favoritism to the Jews / Israel. However, God makes it really clear that He choose them not because they were special, but for the very reason that there was nothing special about them.
Let’s be perfectly clear, God sees each individual and nation in the same way. Each and every one of them has equal value and God longs to show each one favor, blessings and give the keys of the kingdom to. There are no exceptions as God is impartial in every area of life.
God chooses some individuals and nations as a sovereign choice (not because He is partial) to reveal His ways, to get our attention or to show us a model for how He longs to work in and through all individuals and nations.
Jesus is the individual model for what He longs to give and be in and through us. Israel is the national model for what He wants to do in all nations if the people will align with His values. He is not saying we are to treat each person the same, for He interacts with each individual and nation in a very personal way but the foundation for treating each person differently is that each and everyone has equal access to Him and value as image bearers of God.
