Blessed be the LordGod, the God of Israel, Who alone works wonders. And blessed be His glorious name forever; And may the whole earth be filled with His glory. Amen, and Amen.
Psalm 72:18-19
There is an ache in the heart of every lover of God. It is not the burden of sin or brokenness. It is not directly the fruit of the great rebellion, but we do carry it in this dark world.
It is the aching for His glory. When we see glimpses of Him, something inside of us is born that is totally foreign to our natural man.
It often comes out in the language of our desire to ‘Bless’ the Lord. We really have no words to describe it for it is a foreign feeling. Strictly speaking we can’t bless God, how could we for He is so far above and beyond us. It is more a longing for Him to get all that He deserves. There is this burden, weight or longing to honor, extol, lift up and exalt this one who is the Author of all life.
Know this, there is nothing wrong with us in this ‘place’. It is the most natural thing in the world and will grow greater, fuller and richer into all eternity. The more we see of Him, the greater this ache becomes and the more we long to give, bless and honor Him and anything He loves. It is the foundation for a sacrificial life where we don’t even notice it is sacrifice, just a joy to respond to the weight of glory we have been given.
Lord grow this desire in me more and more that I might be consumed with ‘blessing’ You.
